New Pump Provided for Water Store at Katikara Trading Centre

We all did it!   The local community in Katikara raised $500 among among themselves, and others in the USA contributed over $2,000 this month to replace the water pump and generator at our Water Store at the Katikara Trading Centre in Western Uganda.   Thank you, thank you all! Here’s a short note from Br. Julius yesterday.   Photos to follow:   Greetings and best regards to you.   The Lord is good all the time. Dr. Michael you're DIVINE. I am over joyed with the divine message.   Thank you for the love and support. Shalom,   Br. Julius Note:  Please know that Julius tries to flatter me when he calls me Dr. "Divine".  Even though my name---“Micha-El”--is a question that means "Who is like God?" ) I know I’m not!  Just sayin  :) When the Water Store reopens this week, people will come from near and far to purchase guaranteed clean, fresh, water for 33 cents per jerrycan pumped from the w...

Uganda Mission Update on Water Store

Friends of WorldHope Corps and Communities of Shalom:  Here's an urgent update from our mission partner, Br. Julius in Katikara, at Trading Centre in Western Uganda.  We're trying to raise $2,300 this month to meet the need. Please help us if you can. Greetings and best regards from Uganda: We have ended the rainy season and now the dry period has started, December, January, February and early March we anticipate best performance of the water project in Katikara Trading Centre. There are only two boreholes and our Water Store serving a population of more than 6000. However last week our pump broke down. We have tried to make repairs but in vain because it picked up a lot of sand and stones and thus it needs replacement at a cost of $2300.   Its been two weeks now without water in the trading centre. This is a very tricky situation to me and the entire population looks at our project as the only Savior.   It’s so unfortunate that our pump ha...

Dear Dr. Micheal, Greetings and best regards to you. I will first of all apologize for slow communication this year. SARS KATIKARA WATER PROJECT STATUS REPORT SARS/WHC Katikara water project, our much treasured gold mine, has now grown to four months since inception in February 2016. Uganda Mission Trip 2015

WorldHope Corps Mission Team and Friends 2014 Dear Friends of WorldHope Corps: I  invite you to join us this year on a mission with Uganda in June, or support our  mission  there.   Every year since 2005, I've led a service trip to Africa.  W e go to communities to which we have been invited, to share in mutual ministry and joint projects; and we find that we gain so much more than what we give.   Henri Nouwen calls this "reverse mission"  (See  Gracias  by Henri Nouwen). This year we're returning to Uganda on June 22.   Our ministry partners, Pastor Baaumu Moses (leader of Shalom Coffee Collective in Jinja) and Br. Julius Kasaija (leader of SARS Shalom near Hoima) invited members of  WorldHope Corps and Communities of Shalom to c ome and see, enjoy and celebrate, the good things God is doing in Uganda in the lives of Christians, Muslim and Jews.  Imam follows two Shalom leaders who lead the Shalom ...

Christmas Greetings from Br. Julius and Fr. Paul in Uganda

SARS Community Development project Dear Brothers and Sisters in America: I send you greetings in the name of our lord Jesus Christ and I hope God is keeping you safe during this holy week of Christmas. I have viewed the good articles, comments, and the photos on this blog which clearly describe SARS and the work we do in Uganda.  We are so happy to be part of the WorldHope Corps family. God makes miracles in different ways, and meeting people with compassion like you is beyond my imagination. I have attached more photos of the ministry of SARS: God bless you. WorldHope Corps Projects in Western Uganda

Members of SARS with Fr. Paul and Br. Julius We raised the roof of the St. George Hope Health Center in 2009.  Now lets equip the buildings, ensure clean water and sanitation, and empower young women for self-reliance.  During the first ten days of June last summer I had the rich of experience of meeting  Br. Julius Kasaija with the Sustainable Action for Rural Sector (SARS)--a Shalom-style community development work near Hoima, Uganda.  WorldHope Corps had been supporting SARS and their partner ministry, St George Hope Health Center, for three years now. Retired Judge Tom Dilts at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church had introduced me to Julius and his brother, Fr. Paul Bigirwa, and their wonderful work in Western Uganda, but until June we  had not met in person.  Julius attended our ShalomZone Training in Uganda in June, and we became fast friends. Year End Report to WorldHope Corps Donors 2011

Dear Friends and Partners, Despite many economic hardships around the world in 2011, it was a hope-filled year for thousands of children, women and families in Malawi, Uganda, Ethiopia and Haiti—thanks to you!  Together we raised so far this year a total of $108,485  to sustain the Hope programs in Malawi and support relief and development projects in Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti and Belarus. On behalf of all these children, women and families, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous contributions to WorldHope Corps. Specifically this year, we continued to provide food and clothing for 100 vulnerable orphans through the Hope Homes program in Malawi.  We also provided educational scholarships for 16 additional youth who otherwise could not complete High School though Hope Scholarships, and graduated the third class of 12 young seamstresses in Hope Tailoring School, so that they can become self-sufficient and contribute to their loc...

From the Source of the Nile--by Dennis Singini

Baamu Moses, Dennis Singini and Michael Christensen at the Source of the Nile Uganda Mission Report  by Dennis Singini It was a vision unfolding with my ”Paul” (my missionary partner Michael Christensen) and my "Moses" (our host and community leader in Uganda). I was excited to see and learn all I could from Communities of Shalom trainings there as compared to the Mzuzu Shalom trainings conducted a week before in Malawi. When we arrived in Uganda, Pastor Baamu Moses welcomed us at Entebbe International airport with love and kind heart. I was very grateful for his generosity.  We spent a night in Kampala, the capital city, before driving to Jinja, at the Source of the Nile the following morning. Dr. Christensen conducting Shalom Training Communities of Shalom Trainings Every training session was exciting and brought new lessons for community development, a better life and healthier living.  As presentations and discussion went on each day, it was like seals bei...
